The amount of change in pore pressure per unit change in depth when the pores of the rock exhibit normal pore pressure. In parts of the Gulf Coast. the normal pressure gradient has been found to correspond to 0.465 psi/ft change in depth (equivalent to weight of water containing about 100,000 ppm total solids in solution).
