A zone of transitional saturations between water and gas, water and oil, or gas and oil. The transitional zone between oil and water in a water wet rock, for example, will be that length of formation where water will be at its lowest saturation at the top and oil will be at its lowest saturation at the bottom. In this example, virtually l00% oil wouldbe produced at the top of the transition zone, and virtually l00% water would be produced at the bottom.
