SPWLA DE&I Strategy

SPWLA DE&I committee seeks to sustain and expand a supportive society for diversity, equity and inclusion within the energy industry through awareness, collaboration and encouragement. We have established a working group of volunteers to lead SPWLA’s efforts and will be establishing activities within our program to educate, inform and engage.

The SPWLA DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Strategy:

1. Assess the current state of DE&I within the association. This can include surveys, focus groups and interviews to gather data on the diversity of the association’s membership and voluntary boards and committees, as well as the policies and practices in place to promote DE&I.

2. Set DE&I goals and objectives: specific, measurable and aligned with the associations’ mission and values.

3. Develop a plan of action to achieve the DE&I goals and objectives including initiatives such as:
– Offer DE&I awareness publications and material to association members
– Partner with other organisations that are committed to DE&I
– Recruit a diverse range of volunteers
– Review and revise the association’s policies and procedures to promote DE&I.

4. Implement the plan and monitoring progress including tracking metrics such as the percentage of underrepresented groups in leadership and committee positions, the number of DE&I-related complaints, and the participation rates in DE&I initiatives.
5. Continuously assess and adjust strategy. Regularly evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the DE&I strategy and make adjustments as needed.
6. Communicate and report progress to the members, stakeholders and the public.

It’s important to note that DE&I is not a one-time effort, but a continuous process that requires commitment, resources and accountability to achieve meaningful change.
