Dear Members,
On Friday February 27th, the SPWLA Austin Chapter held its first meeting for year 2015. The highlight of it was the election of the new officers for the current year, who will be taking over the responsibilities of past officers who are leaving the chapter upon graduation from UT-Austin.
The Chapter authorities for year 2015 are as follows:
President: Javier Miranda, MSc. (currently working as Petrophysicist at BP America, Inc.)
Vice-President: Juan Diego Escobar Gomez (PhD candidate at UT-Austin)
Financial Director: Joshua Bautista-Anguiano, (PhD candidate at UT-Austin)
Secretary: Mathilde Luycx (PhD candidate at UT-Austin)
Webmaster: Hyung Joo Lee (PhD candidate at UT-Austin)
Public Relations Director: Mauro Palavecino (MSc candidate at UT-Austin)
Special Events Coordinator: Marwane Smaiti (MSc candidate at UT-Austin)
Academic Advisor: Carlos Torres-Verdín (Zarrow Centennial Professor of Petroleum Engineering at UT-Austin)
Former officers:
Jeff Stewart (former Finance Director), will be leaving the Chapter after obtaining his MSc. in
Petroleum Engineering degree from UT-Austin in May.
David Gonzalez (former Public Relations Director), will be leaving the Chapter after obtaining
his MSc. in Petroleum Engineering degree from UT-Austin in May.
